Ascent Moving Forward Groups help women and girls who have experienced or are at risk of gendered violence move forward positively with their lives.
This series of eight workshops provides a space to talk, listen and be heard in an emotionally supportive and safe environment.
Group work gives you an opportunity to share experiences and information with other survivors, and explore and understand the impact of gendered violence. You will also use practical exercises to help create healthy boundaries and relationships, and improve self-care.
The service is part of the London VAWG Consortium.
This has been life changing for me. I still have a way to go but there’s been a ‘light bulb’ moment almost every week and I’m finally beginning to truly understand how my abuse has impacted me in real terms, and that alone is an important step in my escape from it. The facilitator has shown such wonderful insight, compassion and understanding.
Moving Forward Groups update – April 2020
WGN are committed to protecting and ensuring the wellbeing of all women engaging with our services and for this reason the Moving Forward face to face groups were suspended in March.
However, we are intent on providing continuity and consistency in supporting clients during this difficult time and have been adapting our services in order to do this.
We have been creatively exploring the use of virtual platforms with the aim of delivering group sessions online in the coming weeks and will keep you updated on our progress.
With this is mind, we are now open for referrals to women who are in the position to access the group online in a confidential space in their own homes via a smart phone, tablet or computer/laptop device.
