Experiences of violence viewed through the lens of gender. Recognises that socially imposed norms, roles and expectations of masculinity and femininity affect intimate relationship and family structures. The gendered social environment affects prevalence, intention and consequences of abuse and violence differentially for men and women.

VAWG: Violence against women and girls is any form of violence disproportionately perpetrated by men against women and girls. It is deeply linked to women’s inequality and includes sexual violence, domestic abuse, stalking and harassment, female genital mutilation, forced marriage and so-called ‘honour-based’ abuse, exploitation and abuse of women and girls in online spaces.
